I think interest pages are always a waste of time; they do however help visitors to a site know a little bit about the author. I've tried to keep mine concise.
My most recent interest has been accessibility, especially over the web. I've restructured my page to be clean and fast-loading; I've taken pains to make sure that it validates properly as well.
As I am an arthritis sufferer (particuarly in my hands), I am very interested in alternative input methods, such as the Dasher Project, a method of input using only mouse movements.
I've also decided to dabble a bit into making and installing a Car PC, however I do not feel that it is worth my time to install a computer into my current car. I have already settled on the computer's operating system, DSL "frugally installed" on a CompactFlash device. With any luck, I will be able to play audio files, navigate with GPS, and be able to read trouble codes and monitor my car's performance with an OBD-II scanner. This project has taken a back seat to many other projects, such as networking my house.
I've also taken an interest in 802.11 (Wireless Networking) drivers, mainly because my most recent wireless card doesn't work very well with my laptop.
I believe strongly in the idea of Software Freedom, and to
that end have joined the Free Software Foundation.
This is the main reason I use gNewSense GNU/Linux on my primary
home machine. I have found that I like control over my computer
and what software runs on it. I also enjoy (and take advantage
of) the fact that I am free to study, learn, modify, and add
value wherever and whenever I see fit. As I age I find myself
much less willing to deal with restrictions others place upon
me or having to wait for them to fix my problems.
I previously composed music. Visit that page for further details.
